What we do, what we do not do, and what you agree to when you open a case.
Divine DNA arranges and manages relationship DNA testing. The analysis itself is performed by an AABB-accredited laboratory. We review every case personally and confirm your price before anything is charged.
A relationship test tells you whether two people are biologically related. It is not a diagnostic test, it does not screen for disease or carrier status, and nothing we provide is medical advice. We do not offer health, wellness or ancestry testing.
An informational test is for your own knowledge. Samples may be collected without formal identity verification, and the result is not admissible in court and cannot be used for child support, custody, immigration, inheritance or a birth certificate.
A legal test follows a documented chain of custody: an unrelated, trained collector verifies every participant's photo identification in person, seals the kit and hands it directly to a courier. Participants never have possession of the kit. If you may ever need the result in a legal setting, choose the legal test at the outset — an informational result cannot be converted after the fact without collecting again.
The figure shown on a test page is an estimate. Your quote is confirmed after we review your case, and you are not charged until you approve it inside your own case file. You must be 18 or older to open a case.
Every adult being tested signs their own consent — nobody can sign for another adult. A parent or legal guardian signs for a child under 18. If a participant will not take part, the test cannot be run, and how that is handled depends on how far the case has progressed. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy and our Genetic Informed Consent page.
The laboratory reports relationship testing in 1 to 3 business days. That clock starts when your samples and completed paperwork arrive at the laboratory — not from your collection appointment. Shipping time is not included, and neither is the time it takes every participant to sign their consent.
Paternity and maternity results are reported with a probability of relationship. Grandparent, aunt/uncle and sibling results are reported as a likelihood, not as a single figure, and they can be inconclusive — testing both grandparents, or including the mother, materially strengthens them. We will tell you honestly before you pay if the combination of people available is unlikely to give you a clear answer.
For non-standard samples, the laboratory's own position is that there is no guarantee that a DNA profile will be obtained. The fee is charged for the attempt whether or not one is.
Give us accurate names and contact details, follow the collection instructions in the kit, and do not attempt to test a person without their knowledge and consent. Submitting a sample from someone who has not consented is not something we will knowingly process.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia. If we change them we will update the review date on this page; the terms in force when you opened your case are the ones that apply to it.
